Adaptation from an illustration in “Where the Wild Things Are” by Micky at Blaque Owl Tattoo in Missoula, Montana.  The name “Mia” is from when my daughter wrote her name for the first time at 3 1/2.  The artist added her hair under the hood, and a shading style instead of the cross-hair style in the book. This is meaningful to me—I used to drive 100 miles every other Friday and Sunday to put my daughter on and pick her up from a ferry boat in Northwest Washington.  This book was one of her favorites, and though I never told her to please not go, I struggled with letting her go, so to speak, or letting everything go, really.
