I am not in fact obsessed with collecting anything, especially platypus paraphernalia, now I am in to getting rid of anything that takes up space that I do not use for creativity or on a daily basis. Anyway I was looking for a quote about collecting (yeah, why would they have quotes about collecting?) well it turns out they do not have many, and the title of this post was one that I found. (the title for some reason is not appearing) It reminds me of what we are supposed to be doing for this blog//project. Collect something & do NOT become a hoarder.

My idea for this blog and our project has become collecting miniature things and extra large things. I have only recently realized that I always buy stuff that is mini (because it’s so cute that I can not leave the store without it) or the economy sized anything at the grocery/wal-mart, because I have three room mates and it is necessary.

This is gonna be fun! An excuse to buy more stuff!

Wooden Light Bulb by Ryosuke Fukusada

Functional light bulb appears to be made of wood, is actually an intricately carved wooden shell:

This lamp is created to achieve the mix of modern design and traditional craft technique. It has an impression as a solid wood radiate light. In fact, the LED device is wrapped by wooden shell which is chipped until minimum thickness with Japanese ‘ROKURO’ technique. The socket is done by aluminum which suits wood with modern impression. This lamp has the new attraction by means of using the traditional craft technique and open up the new value of it.

It contains some warm socks, a booklet with some tips and important phone numbers and a map which points out stuff like the homeless centres, where there are free public toilets and also where there is water fountains. On the backside of the map there is also information on the centres that are pointed out on the map.

Adaptation from an illustration in “Where the Wild Things Are” by Micky at Blaque Owl Tattoo in Missoula, Montana.

The name “Mia” is from when my daughter wrote her name for the first time at 3 1/2. The artist added her hair under the hood, and a shading style instead of the cross-hair style in the book.

This is meaningful to me—I used to drive 100 miles every other Friday and Sunday to put my daughter on and pick her up from a ferry boat in Northwest Washington. This book was one of her favorites, and though I never told her to please not go, I struggled with letting her go, so to speak, or letting everything go, really.

visual-poetry:
